Being June's Mom | 5 Month Update

I know, I'm a broken record, BUT I CANNOT BELIEVE JUNE IS 5 MONTHS OLD!  If this is your first trip through my solar system here, I tend to start all June-related posts with the words "I can't believe..." What can I say? I'm in a constant state of shock and awe around this little babe.

My baby is 5 months old. So much has happened since December 23rd. Christmas, New Years, a hospital visit, snow, football, traveling, cats escaping, and more! To say we have been through some adventures would be an understatement. Little June is cooing and rolling around. She started rolling over a while ago, but we honestly don't put her down enough to give her floor time. I've tried to be better about that. She will fuss a little, but will eventually enjoy her time stretching and wiggling.

June's first snow! We put her puffy coat on just to say we did.

Randoms thoughts:

  • I know some people don't believe in pacifiers, but I seriously could not live without June's. She has a few WubbaNubs and I love them. They are easy to find, wash well with the laundry, and she has something to hold.
  • I have found that my comfort while she's eating is extremely important. When she was smaller, she would eat her bottle in about 2-3 minutes, so it didn't matter whether I was sitting on the floor or on the edge of the bed. Now, she takes a little longer to eat, so I've developed some back problems from sitting unsupported. I have made a better effort to get comfortable before I start feeding her.
  • June got so many fun things for Christmas, but her favorite is a little radio from Santa. It plays a few classical music songs and lights up. It's (usually) a surefire way to calm her down.
June (mommy) was so very excited about her favorite NFL team doing so well, but we are still trying to cheer her up after their heartbreaking loss to the Packers. :(

I'm learning more what it's like to be mom to a baby with extra needs. We have hard days, but most of them are filled with so much joy because of who June is. She inspires me. She is my hero. She's the cutest and I literally could not imagine having a more adorable child. I am just so happy she is 5 months old, but would really like for the time to slow down! I know once we get to 6, it'll be a mere blink before we are at 1 year. [Cries in a corner!]
