Elyse and Chris, where should I begin? I've known Elyse for many years now. We've been to Disney World together! How 'bout that for bonding! Elyse was one of those girls that no one could believe was single because she is SUCH A CATCH! Little did everyone know, God was saving the most wonderful companion for her. I'm so excited to see Chris and Elyse wed this weekend!
How did the two of you meet?
Chris and I met on a backpacking trip on the Appalachian trail. My best friend was trying to set us up, but I didn't realize it at the time. We saw each other again a few weeks later when the same friend forced Chris to invite me on a caving trip with all of them. After caving, we got coffee, talked for five hours, and the rest is history :)
What has been the best part about being engaged?
The best part about being engaged is being almost married and one step closer to no longer being long distance! We have also loved getting to celebrate our engagement with so many family and friends, many of who we do not get to see very often. We have had so many people support and love us so well during these past few months of being engaged!
Elyse, what do you like most about Chris?
I love that Chris is so incredibly patient and level-headed. I am an emotional roller coaster 99% of the time- Chris balances me out. He bring me back down the earth when I need it. He brings a mature, spiritually-rooted perspective, and I respect him completely.
Chris, what do youlike most about Elyse?
I love how she invests herself entirely in her relationships with people! Whether its friends, family, or me, she loves people deeply and intentionally!
What are you most excited about for your wedding day?
We are so excited to celebrate with all of our family and friends! They all play such a huge role in our lives, and we are excited to have everyone together (& to tear up the dance floor)!
If you had to pick a word for your relationship, what would it be?
Unexpected. Neither one of us expected this relationship to happen- we were both making our own plans- Chris was heading off to training for the Marine Corps, and I was planning to move to Chicago to pursue a masters with hopes of going overseas. But here we are (only a little more than year after meeting), and we wouldn't have it any other way.
Three dreams/goals for your marriage.
1. Our ultimate goal is for our marriage to the reflect the love of Christ. We know that we only know love because of Christ loved us- we want to live each day in light of this and seek to know and love Christ more everyday.
2. We want our home to be an open place to the people around us, both old friends and new friends. We want to invite people into our home and our lives.
3. Chris is in the Marine Corps, so we will have the opportunity to live in and travel to many different places. We want to take advantage of all there is so see and do in each place we live and to always look for new things to experience together!
Ah! Can't wait for you to be Mr. and Mrs.!!!!
