Katie & Graham | Yorktown Freight Shed | Hannah Hildebrandt Events | Yorktown, VA

What a weekend! If I could describe this past Saturday in three words, they would be: damp, rainy, and PERFECT. It rained. Oh, it rained. But what had the potential to be a disastrous wedding day turned into the most celebrated, loving occasion. Katie and Graham are married, their friends and family CELEBRATED with them, and I could not be more pleased with how it all happened.

First, let me thank Hannah Hildebrandt for trusting me with the weekend coordination responsibilities. Hannah called me several months ago to see if I would help....she was expecting her first child. (By the way, baby girl came about a week ago and is so sweet!) Fortunately for me, her timeline and other instructions were so clear and straight forward, it was like I had been with this couple since the beginning.

I got to work with Chris of Colonial DJs, Katie, one of Hannah's assistants, and James Lee of 88 Love Stories Photography. It's important to note that when you hire competent, fun, organized vendors, the wedding day is a breeze. I had a blast!

Katie and Graham had planned on getting married at the Yorktown Custom House, but when the skies opened up an hour before their ceremony, the call was made to move it inside. Because their ceremony decorations were minimal, it took just a small amount of effort to make the switch. I'm so thankful for that!

Enjoy an iPhone recap of their big day!

As the saying goes, the show must go on. It really didn't matter where Katie and Graham got married. Their ceremony would have been just as sweet anywhere.

Ah! Katie's bouquet, done by Morrison's Flowers. You can't deny the perfection of sunflowers!

That sky!!!! Ah! At the last minute, Katie and Graham decided to do a First Look. This gave them portrait time before the heavens opened up. Fortunately, it stopped raining during cocktail hour and they were able to go down by the river. I cannot wait to see how these turn out!!

This shot was from the Fox family dance. Grandpa (right in the middle) taught his kids and grandkids this dance. Apparently, they do it every time they get together. This was one of my favorite moments of the night!

Of course, I had to throw in a shot of the cake. It was beautifully crafted by Cakealicious, out of Williamsburg. Delicious! Also, see that blue mason jar on the table? Katie and Graham added a unique element to their ceremony. Instead of a traditional unity candle, they took water from each of their hometowns, and pour it into a jar that would represent their union. During the reception, I saw them pouring more water into it - they had collected rain water to represent their wedding day.

What a fantastic day, celebrating a fantastic couple. I am fortunate to have met this family. Everyone was so kind. And even though it rained cats and dogs, there wasn't a single unpleasant moment in the entire day.

Thanks again, Hannah, for letting me have this experience!
